curriculum vitae Prof Dr Luc Van Ootegem obtained a PhD degree in Economics from the University of Leuven on the topic ‘An economic theory of private donations’. He then became research manager at HIVA, focusing on economic, regional, environmental and social policy. In 1997, he was appointed professor at the University College Ghent (part of Ghent University since 2013) and is currently teaching ‘Introductory Economics’, ‘Welfare Economics’ and ‘Environmental Economics and Management’. From 2003 to 2008, he was program director for the Master of Business Studies branch. His recent publications and research focus on well-being and capabilities (measurement) and the link with sustainable development.
