PULSE - Research platform on public support for development cooperation
International comparative research is showing that Belgium is investing significantly in activities related to the strengthening of public support for development cooperation and global education. The same studies and evaluations are also indicating that in most cases methods and instruments are missing to evaluate these policies and to guide them in a results-oriented way. The research platform (O*platform) “public support for development cooperation”, is supported by VLIR-UOS (funded by the Federal government) to strengthen the scientific base by (1) mapping more systematically the public support for development cooperation amongst the Belgian public and in specific sectors (politics, private sector, and education); (2) mapping demand and supply of activities focussing on public support and global education; (3) improving the methodologies to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of these activities; (4) researching the role of the media; (5) exploring the possibilities of innovatiev, digital communication strategies.
